August Wittgenstein performed his first theatre roles on Off-Broadway while still a student at the renowned American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. His performances attracted the attention of directors such as Daniel Cauterucci and D.J. Turner, with whom he collaborated in his first film roles. Since the beginning of his career, his characters have been suffused with a vulnerable masculinity and possess a distinct physicality, and these qualities are also apparent in Joachim Baldauf’s photographs.
